The word Dashavatar ( ``Dash`` means Ten and ``Avatar`` means Incarnation ) refers to the ``Ten Incarnations of Lord Vishnu`` who is referred to as one of the most powerful God of the Hindu Trinity, the other two Gods being Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. Lord Vishnu is considered as the preserver and protector of this Universe and as per Ancient Hindu Texts, there have been various Incarnations ( Avatars ) of Lord Vishnu for maintaining a balance between Dev and Danavas or the Good and the Evil whenever the balance have tilted towards Danavas that is the Evil forces thereby threatening the very existence of Universe
